CHARM (Child at Risk Monitor) Program

The CHARM Program is designed to allow children to remain living in the home under close supervision when the child is believed to be at risk for abuse or neglect. The CHARM team consists of the County Social Worker, the Program Supervisor and the Monitors. The team works with the child and family to see that the child is living in a safe environment.

The CHARM Monitors provide face-to-face contacts with children and families to observe the living conditions and physical conditions of the child. The role of the Monitor is limited to observing the above conditions, documenting their observations and reporting their observations/documentation to the referring County Worker. Their role does not involve teaching or modeling parenting skills. If the CHARM Monitor observes or has immediate concerns regarding the safety or welfare of a child or children, they immediately notify the County Intake worker and/or the Police as appropriate.

The CHARM Monitors work a flexible schedule and are available to provide in home services 7 days a week, 359 days a year, during both daytime and evening hours.
