This is a short-term program. The goal is to provide a safe environment for a child who is taken into custody on an emergency basis while the caseworker determines the best placement plan. The goal is to keep the child close to their community and school. This is considered a short-term/temporary placement expected to be 30 days or less with the total length of stay to be no longer than 60 days. Youth to be served in Emergency Shelter Foster Family Care will be referred by county social services and probation officers. These children may be on a 72 hour emergency hold, court ordered , or voluntarily placed.
